Hey Angela! Thanks so much for letting us shine the ProHealth spotlight on you this week. What’s your position at ProHealth Physical Therapy and Pilates and how long have you been here?
I have been with ProHealth for 3.5 years and serve as a Patient Experience Specialist and the Front Office Manager.
As the Patient Experience Specialist at ProHealth, what does your typical day look like?
My typical day is a lot of paperwork!
Checking patient insurance eligibility and benefits to ensure their visit is covered, obtaining info on visits allowed and special requirements by their insurance company. I submit authorizations on behalf of our patients and reach out to their referring MDs office to get referrals or other information needed for our new patients.
This may all sound easy but many offices are understaffed so getting a call or fax back may take weeks! Knowing this, I’m thankful for ProHealth because I am huge on customer service and believe we deliver excellent service to our patients and clients. If you come to me with a question, I’ll always respond. Even if it’s “I don’t know” or “I can’t at the moment”, it’s much better than saying nothing at all! I keep a task list by my desk and make sure I address each one daily. I love making sure nothing is pending for customers.
You sound busy! Out of everything you do, what’s your favorite thing about your job?
It’s cliché to say “the people” but the women I work with truly inspire me!
While my head is buried in the computer, our front desk welcomes patients and clients like old friends. I love hearing our Wellness Instructors get laughs (and grunts!) from their clients while encouraging new moves. Our PTs are some of the best medical professionals I have ever worked with.
Bethany (Nelson) has the biggest heart for her amputee patients, Becca (O’Farrell) is absolutely amazing with teens and kids, Jessalyn (Ford) creates a safe space for her older clients to thrive, Ashley (Mitchell) laughs with her patients like they are old friends, and of course Karyn (Staples) is an absolute expert in her field and teaches so much more than just proper mechanics. I’ve learned so much from each of them and am blessed to work alongside them all.
Share the number one problem you solve for clients and patients at ProHealth?
Navigating insurance benefits or communicating with a referring doctor’s office can be tricky, but I’m your person! I work hard to ensure our patients receive the best of their benefits and all they need to move better and feel better.
Fav class or service at ProHealth and why?
I love the Circuit Classes! They’re an excellent mix of balance, movement, and strength on multiple pieces of equipment. Terri (Wilson) challenges me. I’m determined to get my teaser to look like hers someday!
Quick 5 Favorites!
Food? All of it! I’m not picky; and if it is something I’m not fond of – there’s always hot sauce to save the day!
Peachtree City spot? Drake Field – Love the peacefulness of watching nature and people being active.
Holiday? Christmas Day with my kids.
Movie? I can’t think of one… but I’ve been watching Luca with my youngest a lot lately.
Vacation? Carmel, California. I’m originally from Sacramento. The sandy beaches and warm waters are nice and I miss the rocky, cold, tidepool filled beaches of the Central Coast.
