Hi Terri! Thanks so much for letting us shine the ProHealth spotlight on you this week.
What’s your position at ProHealth Physical Therapy and Pilates and how long have you been here?
I am a Polestar and Fletcher Pilates certified instructor and personal trainer, (wellness instructor). I teach and am trained in Reformer konnect pilates, oov, flexibility, medicine ball, bosu, TRX, and stability ball courses. I teach private, duet, and trio pilates sessions, and group circuit pilates classes, as well as Building Better Bones group fitness, ( focusing on building bone strength in women who have osteopenia or osteoporosis and also for prevention.) This class is at capacity. The participants have become great friends and go to lunch together. We’ve had many Life Changes and improvements due to this class.
I’ve been employed with ProHealth for 4 years.
What does your typical day look like at ProHealth?
I work full-time, teaching Pilates and strength training. I work at different times every day to accommodate clients. Some mornings I’m in at 7:30 and a few nights a week I work in the evenings, to accommodate those who come after work. In my schedule, I have only permanent clients, but currently have 1 open spot.
My regular clients come in at the same time every week. I have many that come two and three times a week. I’m very proud of my full schedule, my client’s friendships, and most importantly their results in coming to me for both mental and physical health.
What’s your favorite thing about your job?
My favorite thing about my job is hearing their stories about how I changed their lives and helped them. They may have fallen and didn’t get hurt, or eaten something healthy and yummy, or have the strength to get through an illness or hardship. As a two-time cancer survivor, also with a hip replacement, I have a sense of understanding what physical pain and mental pain is.
Share the number one problem you solve for clients and patients at ProHealth?
How to build overall physical strength and confidence. Be prepared for life’s hiccups: how to recover, if they get sick, how to fight that illness. How to prevent or recover from a fall.
Fav class or service at ProHealth and why?
I love strength training and seeing the joy in their faces when they feel strong and have been taught correct form. In pilates, I love to have someone brand new, who’s never taken Pilates, and during our session I hear, “ohhhhh”, when they connect their mind to their movement and feel joy.
