For women to prioritize their health, it comes down to time. While time is limited and unchanging, you can change how you use it. There are two options for how to make time for your health. First, you can outsource help to buy your time. For example, hiring help with housework. If paying for help is not an option, is there something in your schedule that can be shared? If driving multiple children to school and activities takes numerous hours a day, can this be shared with a spouse or other parents through carpooling? Scan your schedule and see where time can be gained through asking for or hiring help.
The second way to find time to prioritize your help is by subtracting another task from your schedule. It’s not uncommon in our culture to continually add to a schedule that is already full. If you want to spend three hours a week at the Pilates studio, you must remove three hours of other commitments. If you spend three hours browsing online each week, that’s a simple fix. But maybe you’ll need to consciously review your commitments to see if it’s time to let something go.
