Thanks so much for letting us shine the ProHealth spotlight on you this week. What’s your position at ProHealth Physical Therapy and Pilates and how long have you been here?
I am a physical therapist and Pilates Teacher. I completed my comprehensive Pilates teacher training through Polestar Pilates in 2020. I’ve been a member of the ProHealth staff since August 2019.
What does your typical day at ProHeath look like?
My day starts at 7:30 am, Monday through Friday and ends at 4:30pm. I mostly work with physical therapy clients. I do teach a class regularly on Mondays (Healthy Spine Circuit) and enjoy filling in for other classes as needed. Each day is different because the people I see vary from day to day.
Out of everything you do, what’s your favorite thing about your job?
My favorite thing about my job is getting to build relationships with the individuals I have the privilege to work with. The world of health care is very busy and often doesn’t allow for time to get to know patients. Physical therapy is different. I get to meet with people once or twice a week for several months, and this allows me to get to know people on a deeper level and learn their stories.
Share the number one problem you solve for clients and patients at ProHealth?
Everything circles back to posture and breathing. Coming from a Pilates training background, posture is related to all ailments. Breathing is the foundation of everything that we do. It is amazing how simply changing the way someone stands or sits can relieve pain.
Fav class or service at ProHealth and why?
This is a tough one! I love how ProHealth encompasses the wellness world outside of physical therapy. So often people stop moving after therapy is over, but ProHealth encourages continuation of movement and learning more about your body through our wellness programs.
